A Slower Season Ahead: Booking Windows, Boundaries, and Intentional Work

From one of my favourite mini sessions - the beach mini

Last year was full of moments I’ll never forget.

Beautiful families. First weddings. Creative opportunities I once dreamed about. So many yeses. So much growth.

And yet, somewhere along the way, I stopped being able to fully experience it.

I didn’t recognize it as burnout at first. Nothing was “wrong.” I wasn’t overbooked. But I felt like I was drowning. I was constantly available, constantly responding, constantly deciding. Saying yes to every opportunity that came my way because I was grateful, excited, and afraid to miss something.

I had so man creative shoots throughout the year!!! This was taken at Maple & Rose

It wasn’t until I sat down to do my year-end reflection that it really hit me. I was looking at everything I had accomplished and realizing how little I had slowed down enough to appreciate it. I was overwhelmed more often than not. My sleep was off. My mind was always racing.

A big piece of that pressure came from social media. The constant feeling that I needed to show up, post, engage, be visible. The guilt when I didn’t have the energy. The quiet belief that if I wasn’t present online, I was somehow falling behind.

Around the same time, I found myself inspired by the women around me. Conversations at Maple & Rose about intentional, sustainable growth. The women in LET’s Network who are constantly striving to do better while also being honest about their limits. It made me pause and ask myself an important question:

What do I want my growth to look like?

This year, my answer is clearer boundaries, less decision fatigue, and more presence.

Why Booking Windows

Booking windows aren’t about working less or disappearing for chunks of time. I’ll still be photographing, editing, and sharing my work throughout the year.

What they do change is how much mental energy I spend on constant admin and decision-making.

Instead of juggling inquiries, availability, scheduling, and planning all at once year-round, booking windows allow me to batch that work. When bookings are open, I focus on logistics and planning. When they’re closed, I can give my energy to photography, editing, and light, intentional marketing without constantly context-switching.

This structure gives me:

  • Less decision fatigue

  • More mental clarity during the season

  • More presence during sessions

  • Better energy for the families I work with

And that ultimately benefits everyone involved.

2026 Booking Windows

Here’s how bookings will work this year:

Mini Sessions This Year

Mini sessions will continue to be offered publicly throughout the year, with a small number of dates available for each to keep the experience relaxed and intentional.

This was taken at my Lavender Mini Sessions!

Here’s what’s planned:

  • Cozy Minis — March

  • Beach Minis — Late May / Early June

  • Lavender Minis — July

  • Fall Minis at the Merrickville Ruins — Late September / Early October

There may be additional mini sessions added throughout the year as well.

A Final Thought

This shift comes from a place of care. Care for my family, my creativity, my health, and the people who trust me to capture meaningful moments in their lives.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by trying to do everything, I see you. And if this slower, more intentional approach resonates with you, I hope it helps you trust that you’re in good hands here.

Thank you for being part of this season with me.
